"Since 1926"
- The « Semaine du Cuir » was created in 1926 by an association of leather professionals and it was the origin of the Conseil National du Cuir (The French Leather Council) (CNC) – the representative of the leather profession in France. The « Semaine du Cuir » groups together tanners, suppliers and shoe at the exhibition parc of Porte de Versailles.
- The fair was, then, discontinued due to the economic situation of World War Two.
- In 1950 the « Semaine du Cuir » makes a come back, under the influence of Robert Boutevilain, Chairman from 1950 to 1986.
- Since 1955, the foreign exhibitors mark their presence. The fair then becomes the « Semaine Internationale du Cuir ».
- From 1955 to 1991, the fair achieves a great international success:
- 1955 : 472 exhibitors of out which 24 foreigners
- 1989 : 1 200 exhibitors out of which 70% of foreigners
- 1990 : 2 267 exhibitors and 79 965 visitors
- 1991 : 2 271 exhibitors and 81 352 visitors
- In 1988, the SIC SA (Société Internationale du Cuir SA) is created.
- In 1993, the SIC Group signs up a joint venture with the Hong Kong Trade Fair Group (since then taken over by Miller Freeman and become CMP). It participates in the development of the Asia Pacific Leather Fair in Hong Kong and in the launch of several international events related to the world of leather : the Panamerican Leather Fair in Miami, the All China Exhibition and Moda Shanghai in Shanghai, and Matech China in Dongguan
- The SIC Group is, then, set up.
- In 1998, it creates in collaboration with the International Centre of Commerce in Geneva, a bi-annual trade fair that groups together the leather professionals in the African continent : MEET IN AFRICA.
- After a few years of interruption of the « Semaine Internationale du Cuir », the SIC Group re-launches in 2001 an international event in Paris, Porte de Versailles: LE CUIR A PARIS.
- In 2002, it organizes a convention in Budapest to bring together the leather professionals coming from the two Europes : THE LEATHER LINK.
The SIC Group is today one of the leaders in the organization of international events related to the leather sector.
